About Paint Annapolis 2010

This juried competition is presented by Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA), with the support of our sponsors.  Thirty (30) artists have been selected by the juror to compete. In addition, the juror has selected 5 alternates in the event that some of the selected artists cannot participate. Click here for a list of competing artists.

The city-wide plein air event will run from September 22, (Wednesday evening artists’ arrival and check-in) to September 26 (Sunday afternoon/evening Collector’s Preview and reception/awards). The juried exhibit will be on display through October 24, 2010 at Maryland Hall.  Artists will paint within designated boundaries in Annapolis on all three painting days:  Thursday, September 23, Friday, September 24, and Saturday, September 25.  Artists must turn in two completed, framed, and ready to hang artworks on the morning of Sunday, September 26.  Work must be done during the event painting days “en plein air” without the assistance of photographs, within the painting boundaries, and within the completed, framed size limit of 36”x 42.”

The sale and exhibit will be held at Maryland Hall in their two gallery spaces, and work (sold and unsold) will remain on display until the end of the exhibition, Oct. 24, 2010.
